Hello everyone! EFH program has officially and successfully been concluded, and as discussed on the open day (13th August 2017), the first meetup(post the program) will be on the 10th Sep 2017(Sunday).
Regarding this, me(Sreelakshmi) and Priya.K had a discussion with Prithvi and Tanvi about what would be the focus for the meetup.
As discussed:
- An update from the groups, on their projects and on what was lacking in the project that you did till now and what enhancements did you want to add, for example some sensor that didn’‘t work, some functionality that you tried but weren’'t able to do it in time, etc.
- All groups are requested to post updates by 27th August 2017
- Pick a common or relevant problem/functionality among the three groups and bring in an expert to have a talk/discussion/implementation on that day.
Further details will be shared as and when things are in place.
Looking forward for updates!
Embedded for Her is a program conducted in collaboration with Free Software Movement Karnataka (FSMK), to encourage more women to venture into this domain and make a mark in the field.
Post the conclusion of the first iteration of the program, we want to carry forward the spirit of EFH and provide a platform for developers and enthusiasts either working within the ecosystem or interested in learning more about embedded systems to collaborate and come together to build lots of fun projects.
We plan to host monthly meetups, targeting developers who are either professionals already, beginning their journey in embedded systems, or professionals who are looking to go to the next level in there career. The meetups are FREE and open to WOMEN only*. We feature talks, workshops, open discussions, and more that focus on development in embedded systems.
*plus one, ie men are allowed if they accompany a woman. We will be strictly implementing this rule.

Post EFH Meetup 1
With an interest of growing the community and consistent learning we had decided on having regular EFH meetups. The first meetup happened on 10th of September. We started off with the discussion on the progress of the projects of the different teams followed by a session on “Communication protocols in Embedded Systems” by Nirzare. The synchronous protocols SPI and I2C were discussed alongwith a demo to illustrate the use of logic analyser was done. The data from accelerometer through I2C and data was written to SD card through SPI. The signals were captured with Logic analyser. A demo on using the Thinger.io platform for visualizing the IOT data was given by Niranjan. We had an open discussion on the topics to be discussed in upcoming meetups and possible projects that can be undertaken. Few of the topics that were Cloud, Mongo DB and project suggestion was on using the old phones in building a security system for a house. We would be checking on the feasibility of this project by our next meetup which might take place on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of October.
